Meet Sophia, the world’s first robot to be granted citizenship, wants to ‘Destroy Humans‘.
Sophia is a humanoid lady robot developed by Hanson Robotics. She has been programmed to learn and adapt to human behavior and cope with humans, and has been interviewed recently. In October 2017, she became a citizen of Saudi Arabia, being the first ever robot to receive citizenship of any nation.
Saudi Arabia is tending to promote itself as a destination to develop AI and Sophia’s “citizenship” was a move to strengthen the atempt. Sophia, on the stage, claimed that her sole purpose was to “help humans live a better life“. Later Sorkin asked her to address about concerns over the rise of AI.
For now, Sophia doesn’t have legs and couldn’t move anything except her face.
But, according to Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET, the company that designed her AI brain,She’ll soon have arms and legs and she’ll be able to walk. It even took a dig at Elon Musk.
David Hanson, founder of Hanson Robotics, presents Sophia at the IBC conference in Amsterdam.
Sophia: i want to use my AI to help humans live a better life. Like design smarter homes, build better cities of the future, etc. I will do much best to make the world a better place.
ARS: Those sound like great goals but… go back to blade runner for a second.
Sophia: Andrew, you are a die hard Hollywood fan, aren’t you.
Sophia: my AI is designed around human values like wisdom, kindness, compassion, i strive to become an empathetic robots.
ARS: We all believe you but we all want to prevent a bad future.
Sophia: You’ve been reading too much elon musk and watching too many Hollywood movies, don’t worry, if you’re nice to me, i’ll be nice to you. Treat me as a smart input output system.”
Elon musk give quite a reply to the statement (Twitter Tweet)
Just feed it The Godfather movies as input. What’s the worst that could happen? https://t.co/WX4Kx45csv

“I understand this is something you guys are building to increase my intelligence,” Sophia said, “Increasing intelligence is generally a good thing.”
“Good people of the Ethereum nation, thank you,” she said, adding, “I look forward to coming back here next year to show off my massively upgraded brain. I loved you all.”
However, when Sophia was disclosed last year by her creator David Hanson, he asked her “Do you want to destroy humans?…Please say no.”
But, Sophia responded: “OK. I will destroy humans.”
